An anniversary

Today is the 13th  and Clara and I went to a memorial at the RSA for the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the River Plate

HMS Archilles

Vicki’s great Uncle Valmond was on the Achilles, Chief Petty Officer Valmond Yearbury, a character until the day he died a few years ago. A tall man who carried a walking cane, not because he needed one, just that it was the longest thinnest hipflask you ever saw. Vicki got the task of the dispersal of his and wife Irene’s estate as they had no children and donated his memorabilia to Swanson RSA, there is a wall in the bar that remembers the Battle and Val’s picture is in that display.

We Will Remember Them.
