Sonning Bridge to The Swan, Whitchurch on Thames

13 August  - Productive day even in the rain

Up and about at 6 30, after breakfast we moved up to Reading to the Tesco's Extra there, another one with a mooring right outside, very handy. We managed to get the shop done and back on board before it rained but only just.
Outside Tesco's in Reading and the rain is no long pretending
We stayed put until 3.00pm when the rain had stopped and moved across the river and got a pump out and Diesel, that sorted we pushed on up river for 2 hours

Finally stops raining and off for diesel

Through the centre of Reading, bridge under repair
And a new walking bridge which hasn't been finished yet and is on no maps
 Rain has definitely disappeared now
We found a mooring spot with some other boats, just after Mapledurham Lock and tried to moor in the only spot left, it was to shallow so we poled off and moved on.

At the next lock (Whitchurch Lock) the keeper said there is a mooring over there, pointing to the pub, overnight if you dine there. that will do we decided and tied up at The Swan, Chicken for Vicki and Bangers and mash for me, 9/10 and the service was very good.
 The Swan

After dinner we met Joan, a local, and enjoyed a drink with her,  Hello Joan, she went off to check out this blog, we were back on the boat at 9, not hard when you are moored to the garden bar fence.

TOTAL 3 locks, 8 miles, 1 pump out and diesel, 1 Tesco's shop
