Locketts bridge to Buxton Road bridge 37, Macclesfield

13 September - beautiful day for cruising

Up to a much better day, breakfast, blog and a load of washing done and we moved off towards Macclesfield.
Leaving our mooring spot in beautiful weather

A slow and scenic cruise with 2 movable bridges to do on the way, lots more stone bridges and large retaining walls all stone and hardly a brick in sight.
How is that for a view, only thing out of place is power lines

Our first movable bridge I love - electronic, push a button and stop traffic, nothing was coming and by the time we went through I had 4 cars and 2 bikes and 1 pedestrian waiting

And our second moving bridge is manual. Took me a little while to figure it out and then when I put bridge back I spot the instructions. Must have been a grey moment, thought I had got rid of them when I coloured my hair again.

We loaded water at the CRT yard and moved round to the visitors moorings. The water level here is about 100mm from full but I could not get to the edge with out hitting the bottom so we moved on.

Through the next bridge we found some brand new pontoon type moorings part of a CRT trial of a new design and they are 3 days free mooring. On to them we went very nice and easy, a 50m walk to the street above with a pub, takeaways, Indian and Chinese, a Co Op, hairdresser and a dog groomers, something for everyone.

Vicki went for a wonder around Macclesfield town, most of it down hill and eventually returned to the boat via the tow path.

We will be off to Marple  today
These mile stones are the full length of this canal, during WW2 they were removed along with the road signs to confuse invading troops.
After she got back we did a shop, a visit to the pub, and a Indian takeaway 5/10 and back on the boat.
Sunday done and dusted

TOTAL - 4 miles, 2 movable bridges, 1 aqueduct and 1 load of washing
