27 July - weather better today
Up and about at 6.15 and moved off at 7.45. It was a slow cruise through moored boats to the first lock which we worked through by ourselves.
Now I would mind one of these
First lock of the day
Then through some more beautiful country side towards the next lock - Soulbury 3 locks. As we arrived we meet another boat that had moored there last night (Dorinada - Mary & Rodger) who were just getting ready to go up. With a lock buddies, 2 crews and a lock keeper in the pounds the whole exercise was a breeze.
Middle pond was very full so when top lock open it overflows
Mission accomplished
This was our goal for yesterday but rain stopped us,
to early for today, didn't open for another half hour.
On we went in the company of our buddy and up one more lock. We are all on a mission to get to Tescos in Leighton Buzzard for much needed supplies. Once we had stored away our shop and had lunch we headed back into town to buy some boots for Pete - lace ups, for doing locks and seeds and pots for the garden - Silverbeet and some lettuce and some replacement herbs.
Arrived back on boat at 3pm and decided to stay for night.
Put on a roast beef with Yorkshire pud and a nice Oyster Bay Merlot, how hard life is - 10/10. A pleasant day if somewhat cooler and overcast. Looks like the same for tomorrow. Shall talk with Dorinda in morning to ensure we have lock buddy for tomorrows 9 locks, they have just moored a few boats ahead.
