20 July - Weedon boat service
Had our 2nd service for Musn Grumble by Jim from Oakcrafts Narrowboat - we meet him the other day doing locks. Got to see the boat he is building at present has to be delivered end August. Very impressive, need to win lotto.
Jim busy doing service on Musn Grumble, Jim is a craftsman
who has won best in show at the Crik boat show twice, how ever
he would slot into the Westie culture in NZ with out a ripple, a
man after my own heart.
Betty being built by Oakcraft Narrowboats
Built in the style of a traditional cargo boat
boys and their toys - everyone loves the engine
3 cylinder Gardner
Personally I loved the cooker and heaps of space in front
Walked into village and found Weedon has been mentioned in Doomsday 1096 and also visited The Garrison which was where England kept its gunpowder during Napoleonic time. It had a canal right into and some of it remains, impressive. http://www.weedongarrison.com/
Weedon mentioned in Doomsday book
We then headed to Plume of Feathers for lunch but they don't do meals Monday, so went to Cross Roads instead. Pete had Bubble and squeak and I had a ploughman's pate - 8/10 not bad at all.
We are tied up in Jim's boat yard until we are ready to go, just a little closer to the trains and freight trains which run at night.
