15 May - Riley Green to Chorley
We reversed back to Marina for fill up of diesel, gas and pumpout. We have been looking for days and you should never past an opportunity.
Finally set off for Johnson's Hillock Locks around 10ish. Unfortunately had not realised that Lock 64 was closed for the week, so when we got to the Top Lock found out about it and that it would open in a couple of hours, so off to the pub for lunch.
2 pints later and a 7 out of 10 lunch - mushy peas and chips were good, though steak and ale pie not as good as Anchor in Saltforth.
Locks opened at 3pm and we were off down 7 locks. Half way down we meet others coming up and a volunteer lock keep Peter a hive of information. He has given all sorts of recommendations for going down Wigan locks. We plan on doing this Sunday.
Thanks Peter who was the volunteer lock keeper
TOTAL - 8 miles - 7 locks and 3 Aquaducts
16 May Chorley to Adlington
A day of rest we moved only 2 miles so that we could get supplies. Tomorrow we do Wigan locks which is 21 and we need a rest before we attack this. We need to make a decision tomorrow on our way down Wigan Flight whether we continue on to Liverpool or head to Manchester.Ran the boat at mooring today for a few hours to ensure batteries are good.
