Finally start moving again to Slattocks

23 September - Another day stranded in Failsworth

Up and about and props cleaned, both covered in plastic etc.
Vicki walked over to Tescos and topped up stores and also got her new Yorkshire pudding dish to take home, it's just explaining to airport x ray people that will be interesting.
We checked with through CRT guy and were told that the canal is still filling slowly. At 11.30 Vicki's cousin, Nick arrived to spend a few days afloat and his mate Geoff who dropped him off and took Celia to the rail station in Leeds so she could go home and back to work,
A second CRT guy- Dave, the one who controls the water in this section came and said that we may not get through until tomorrow, he was correct. A second night in Failsworth.
Our view for a 2nd night

Nick and I went to the pub and watched the Japan v Scotland game and then back to the boat, dinner and bed.

TOTAL - 0 miles, 0 locks, 0 change

24 September - Failsworth to Slattock's top lock

Up and about and Janet and Vicki went to Tesco's for last minute shopping and we talked to the CRT guy who said we could move at 10 am, we did and moved through the next 3 mile pound and stopped twice to clean the prop, extremely low still.

Nick is nearly a pro now.

We stopped at lock 60 and had lunch in the lock with a view of the far Pennines,  a welcome sight after the bad lands of the last few days. We moved on after lunch through 5 more locks and moored for the night above lock 54 at Slattocks.

The Guide show's a water point here but even the local CRT guy doesn't know where it is, but there is a pub so off we all went, we had dinner at the Hopwood Inn  and then watched the AB's play Namibia for the predicted outcome.

I had black pudding with bacon and salad 7/10 and Vicki had lamb chops 7/10 a very sweet mint sauce spoiling an other wise nice meal.

Home after the Rugby dropping Janet off at her boat and so to bed.

TOTAL - 4 miles, 11 locks, 1 moveable bridge, 1 small aqueduct, 1 tunnel (M60)
