3 September - Back on the Trent & Mersey
Up late, well at least I was I slept to almost 8 . Breakfast and blog and on the move, down to the junction and turned left, we re now back on the Trent and Mersey canal again, we were last on this canal on June 11 when we got lost at Great Haywood.
Through the moveable bridge and turning left on to Trent & Mersey
As I held the moveable bridge open for a gentleman who was moored beside us last night, Pete got to the lock and started filling it for us, luckily a boat was coming down so by the time I caught up I jumped on her and took her into the lock. Pete scored the joy of being back on the Trent as they have bridges between the two gates, something that the Oxford and Coventry don't.
First lock of the day
This use to be a tunnel but due to subsidence they opened it up and is now a very narrow gorge
Rugeley
Someone loves sunflowers
Bridge 68 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugeley
After that, a cruise out into the country where we came to the winding hole where we turned on June 11th. From here to Great Hayward is the only bit of canal we will do 3 times, but that is only through getting lost, a hard thing to do on the canal system. We moored for the night at Wolseley bridge in the same spot as we did when lost at 4 pm, the weather is even colder than earlier in the day.
Deja vu - haven't we been here before
Engine service booked for tomorrow at Hoomill after 12.
