The Swan, Whitchurch to Little Wittenham

14 August - Rain eases through the day

Just as we leave the Swan the rain gets heavier

A long run today, mostly through farmland, but a stop in Goring to donate books to the Op shop and to get another bag full, at 50p each good value.

 Goring, pretty little village

Then onwards, the weather improving slowly as we went. Through more locks and even one we had to man ourselves.
Our first self service lock on River Thames

Soup and toast for lunch on the move and looking out for a mooring spot along the banks to pin up at.

Past more big houses

We found a mooring at 2.30 and stopped it was colder and looked like the rain had not finished. However lots of TV channels and apart from Wasps, Vicki got stung on the hand, this will do for the night.
What a difference a day can make, as sun goes down sky is clearing and in the morning we woke to this. Our mooring spot for the night.

TOTAL - 14 miles, 3 locks, 8 new books
